The explainer

What is Wero?

Wero is a payment platform from the European Payments Initiative (EPI), a coalition of more than 20 major European banks building their own European alternative to American payment services.

It runs on the SEPA Instant standard: money lands in the recipient's account within seconds, day and night, 365 days a year.

Wero is entirely European-owned. No data or profit margin flows to Visa, Mastercard or PayPal. A deliberate step towards European digital sovereignty.
